Femboy – a short film:

During a mandatory work trip to Adelaide, Quan – a feminine gay man and Sydney marketing executive – taps through a sea of faceless profiles: the many curious but closeted “str8” men eager to explore their sexuality in the shadows, perhaps even with someone “exotic”.

Two such men will swiftly capture Quan’s attention, testing his seemingly breezy resilience in vastly different ways.

In a world where the tapestries of homophobia and transphobia continue to evolve, Quan’s brief but intense journey prompts audiences to wonder: “Who is really hiding out there?”

A film about fetishisation that features only men on screen (but celebrates femininity with ferocity), Alfie Tieu’s “Femboy” reveals the collateral damage when men of all sorts – from supposedly proud femboys to the faces behind faceless profiles – must grapple with shame, repression, and a society that fails to truly understand them.
